Before We Dive In

Before we dive into the new activities, here is the S.O.P guideline that all visitors to the Sunway Lagoon should follow:-

only ?fully vaccinated individuals are allowed in and digital certificates on MySejahtera must be presented at the entrance for verification
children who are not vaccinated must be accompanied by parents and guardians who are fully vaccinated
all visitors must have their face masks on at all times in the theme park except when eating, drinking and at water parks & water slides

Gibbon Island – Upcycled Floating Island

What’s so special about this latest addition is that the man-made mini island is made out of recycled wastes ?. Well, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. This island is made out of used Styrofoam pieces, plastic bottles and chlorine drums. All these materials are hard to dissolve and enable the island to float on water.

While the wastes are free, this island is not. A result of a 14-months experiment, led by a team of eight talented in-house staff following a collection of wastes weighing more than 300 kilogrammes, this island costs a whopping RM150,000 (Yes, there are lots of ??ka-ching involved). With that, the team was able to discover suitable materials and how to convert them into an island, which can help in green and environmentally friendly development projects in the future. This project is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), specifically Goal 15: Life on Land – to protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems.

The resident of this unique island is a pair of joyful gibbons. One of them is Pinky, a female gibbon that comes from an endangered gibbon family, the Hylobatidae. Upon the completion of this island, Pinky got relocated from her enclosure in Sunway Lagoon’s Wildlife Park. However, she was very lonely, which prompted the Sunway Lagoon team to bring in a companion for her, a handsome gibbon named Ajuat!

Visitors can see them swing around with ropes all surrounded by lush green foliage and grass from afar. Since it is an island, no one will be able to interrupt their daily peace, except for the park’s zookeepers who will have to peddle a boat there to tend to them. Oh! And they are living happily ever after, the end?.

Camp Out

If you want to experience ?camping but isn’t a fan of the jungle and the cold soil ground, then this new attraction is for you! This is an extension of Sunway Lagoon’s Best Day Ever experience from morning till the next day! The special camping site consists of 2 single tents, 3 twin tents and 3 queen tents totalling up to 8 tents with a maximum capacity of 14 pax and all-day bodyguards security guards. This 2 Days 3 Nights activity aims to provide a safe and clean environment for visitors to spend quality time with their family and friends.

These spacious tents are surrounded by lush ?palm trees and other green plants. The night will be buzzing with the smell of BBQ food. Each tent comes with raised beds, mineral waters, a lamp, a padlock for the tent, 1 unit of air-cooler and a small cabinet to store some of your belongings. There are also tables and chairs all over the camping area for you to hang out and chill.

Tickets are available in 1 pax and 2 pax but we strongly recommend that you take 2 pax because the difference with 1 pax is only RM100 (we must go for the best deal?). Each ticket comes with:-

free admission to all Sunway Lagoon attractions except for Go Kart, GeForce and Bungy Jump (which requires additional payment per ride)
10% Discount for Pay-Per-Ride Activities, Lockers & Tubes rental
camping Facilities
breakfast
BBQ Dinner

While campers will be able to stay within Sunway Lagoon for the whole day, there are several things to note:-

campsite check-in time is 2 pm and checkout time is the next day 12 pm tickets are for single entry only and re-entry using the same ticket is not allowed
participants will not be able to exit Sunway Lagoon within the day as Sunway Lagoon will be locked after closing hours. If there is an urgent matter, try to contact Sunway Lagoon support to liaise about it
valuable belongings can be stored in the paid locker (which is quite some distance from the campsite)
Sunway Lagoon closes at 6 pm (everywhere else will be blocked after 6 pm except within the camping site itself, which will be guarded by the security)

Chilling area within the camp site

Despite all of these restrictions, campers are free to do anything within the camping site (as long as it’s legal- lah). The camping site also has several facilities for campers to enjoy such as below:

3 shallow swimming pools
2 fun water pools (the fountain system will be closed after 6 pm)
washroom and shower area
BBQ pit
meet and dine area

Night Park

This is a new addition to the Sunway Lagoon theme park, which has not opened yet. It is slated to launch somewhere around the first quarter of 2022. The Night Park will be operating after 6 pm. This allows visitors to hang out until late at night at Sunway Lagoon. Visitors can anticipate new attractions such as rides and live performances, like the ?fire show, ?dances and many more. There will also be nightlife restaurants and BBQ dinners (because for a Malaysian, food is laif).

These 3 New Attractions at Sunway Lagoon sure seem exciting but remember to adhere to the S.O.P because while we enjoy our activities, we don’t want the COVID-19 virus to enjoy their activities.
