The bazaar features both local and Iranian products in line with the theme “Eid in Harmony”. The malls are all decorated in vibrant colours, with booths and pushcarts offering interesting selections around the main halls. Head to LG2, ?Orange Concourse and check out the hari raya decorations of Sunway Pyramid! In the spirit of #SupportLokal, Sunway Pyramid has engaged Abdulrashade, a local graffiti artist and his team to paint a beautiful raya mural on a Kampung house. The vivid coloured Kampung house serves as a perfect backdrop for ?Instagram photos!
The colours of decorations at Sunway Velocity Mall are slightly toned down with softer pastel colours. However, the consistency in design can still be seen, especially with the Anthurium flowers murals. This year, 1 Utama went one step further in appreciating Malay culture and Hari the Raya Aidilfitri spirit with their “Minangkabau Village” theme. A small scale replica of the Rumah Gadang stands majestically at the LG Oval. The 41-feet tall house is built to pay homage to the Negeri Sembilan and West Sumatra architecture.
You also get to learn the history and functions of each room with some interactive experience where you can play around with some of the props. Not only that but there are also merchandise kiosks with nipa roofs at the LG Oval and GF Centre Court, where you can get your hands on some raya essentials. On top of that, traditional performances and festive rewards are waiting for you! Also, don’t forget to pose for an ?Instagram-worthy photo when you sit inside a life-sized kereta lambai (bullock cart) at GF Centre Court.
Suria KLCC’s Aidilfitri mall decoration will make you feel nostalgic! The warm Kampung house porch with colourful blinking lights and a retro Proton Saga car (where did they even get that from?!) that is no longer in production will bring you back to your childhood days. There is also a ?chicken coop, a well and a pushcart filled with local ???fruits!
The concourse area’s decor is given the name “Dusun Atok” which means grandpa’s orchard. It will make you think of the pre-covid days when you used to sit at the orchard and enjoy the fruits that your grandparents planted by themselves. In addition to that, Suria KLCC has just unveiled a beautiful lampu pelita replica which is the biggest in Malaysia. This humongous installation is recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records 2022 and measures up to 17 metres in height and 12 metres in width. Suria KLCC always has to have the biggest festive season installation eh??
Sungei Wang Plaza takes a slightly different approach to the festive mood as they bring a fishing village to you! Under the theme of “Seni Raya Batik”, the kampung house and sampans are decorated with batik. Yes! There are “floating” sampans docked by the beach that you can sit on.
Not only that, but you can also sit on the porch and take some fun photographs with family and friends. On the weekends, there are live performances that you can enjoy. As the theme for this year’s Raya is “Seni Raya Batik”, there are batik design raya packets and tote bags for redemption when you spend above certain amounts at Sungei Wang Plaza!
