19 Jan 2023
Finally! We can meet up with our relatives and grandparents for reunion dinner this Chinese New Year! Not only that, but 2022 is also the year of the tiger, and many malls in Malaysia are ready to welcome it with a loud ?roar with exciting mall decorations! Here are 8 Malaysian malls in Klang Valley with the best CNY decor.
At the centre court of Mid Valley Megamall; lies a bustling village filled with abundant cherry blossoms and ?lanterns. Upon coming here, you can scan the QR code. Then, a number will appear where you will have to pick a fortune paper according to your number and find out what kind of blessing awaits you! After that, write your wishes at the back of the fortune paper, and tie it to the ?cherry blossom tree.
For the Chinese New Year of 2022, The Gardens Mall has turned into a Chinese ancestral house in red! Yes! All red and prosperous. This mall has again turned into an insta-worthy attraction with its recreation of common areas in a traditional Chinese home.
This year, Sunway Malls celebrates Chinese New Year by giving back to the community more, hence the theme of 100 blessings. The decor is mostly boxy for all Sunway Malls. Personally, this writer thinks that the Velocity Mall has the best decor out of the 8 Sunway Malls. The main decoration looks like a series of red, yellow and teal colour boxes stacked on top and next to each other.
It is surrounded by stalls selling Chinese New Year goods such as CNY cookies, hampers, ba kwa and lots of performances to boost! For more information on special merchandise redemptions and activities, click on this link.

OMG!! MyTOWN’s CNY decor this year is simply gorgeous!! There is a tall weeping ?cherry blossom tree with a gigantic yet cute looking ?tiger (which also seems to be fluffy to touch). There are also pandas hanging on to the bamboo trees, red panda, alpaca and many more animals, totally ?cuteness overload!
Also, don’t forget to catch all the CNY performances and activities when you go to MyTown on the weekends. Take a look at what you can redeem from MyTOWN here.

This year, Pavilion KL has brought the traditional Chinese art of paper cutting to life! In collaboration with Master Chen Xiao (陈晓), an international award-winning modern origami artist. The 30-foot Pavilion Paper Art Garden at the centre court of level 2 represents the harmony of the 5 feng shui elements (Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, Earth) in a Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter setting.
Get your eyes ready as LG Oval at 1 Utama transformed into a gold mine with everything gold! The star of this kingdom is a 20-feet tall gold-plated tiger standing on a rock mountain to symbolize strength and braveness ~roar?.
Accompanying the tiger are the remaining 11 zodiacs (also gold-plated), each of them with ingots and coins! Check out the exciting things happening throughout the month of the Chinese New Year celebration at 1 Utama Shopping Mall here.

For this year’s Chinese New Year, Berjaya Times Square KL has transformed into a very photo-worthy place! After entering the mall through the main entrance, go through the traditional Chinese front door. There, you will find a couple of corners with antique Chinese furniture.
Sit on the oak chairs or gather at the round marble dining table; get creative with your CNY Instagram photos! Don’t forget to tag @berjayatimessquarekl to be featured on their Instagram!

Travel back in time to the imperial palace of some ancient Chinese dynasty when you make a visit to Suria KLCC’s centre court. The qilin statues, stone bridge, cherry blossom trees and pavilions have turned the area into an ?Instagram-able place. The CNY decor will also remind you of the Summer Palace in Beijing.
Not to mention, the pagoda located outdoor gives off an err… interesting vibe, especially when illuminated at night. After it went viral, the responsible department of Suria KLCC then took measures to fix it by repainting it with more auspicious colours. What do you think? Yay or Nay? Don't forget to take a look at what the Suria KLCC is offering, during this CNY, here.
