The year's Chinese New Year is happening early, and all the 🎅Santa Claus in the malls in Malaysia quickly transformed into Choi San Yeh (God of Prosperity) overnight to welcome the Year of the Water Rabbit🐇. This year, 1 Utama is bringing the whole Teochew village into the mall! The decor is made to look like those iconic landmarks in Chaozhou. There is even a makeshift river and the floating Guangji Bridge with boats! Then, there is the Chaoshan ancient dwelling with a Courtyard Mansion. If you look closely, you can see hand-painted floral motifs on the roofs and Feng Shui elements that make them look like real traditional buildings in Chaozhou.
On top of all that, you can experience Teochew culture through Teochew food, traditional arts & crafts, calligraphy competition, as well as cultural performances in collaboration with the Selangor and KL Teo Chew Association.
